BAAM is back and we’re officially accepting submissions!
The Black Alaskan Art Matters project is a virtual exhibit created to celebrate the many incredible Black artists throughout the state of Alaska. Led by a talented team of curators, this project has featured the work of visual artists, musicians, filmmakers, poets, and more.
As we move into our second year of Black Alaskan Art Matters we are thinking VISIONARY… planning our future with imagination and wisdom. With this vision, we ask ourselves what do we want, how do we take care of ourselves, have the ability, the resources, the respect, and the safety to create? To share and to be… how do we not only survive, but how do we thrive?
We encourage Black Alaskan artists of all disciplines to apply. This means that we accept work from hair and make-up artists, culinary artists, content creators, and more. If you consider your work art, then so do we. The theme this year is Visionary, and we invite you to think about what that means to you and how it speaks to the art that you create.
To submit your work for consideration, please fill out the following submission form by December 17, 2021. Remember to read the instructions at the top of the form before completing your submission:
