Hold These Truths Special Events and Information

The Play:
Gordon Hirabayashi always knew he was different. When he was a young man in 1943, and Japanese-Americans were being moved into camps, Gordon chose to fight US Government action rather than obey an order he felt was unlawful. Taking his case twice to the supreme court, Gordon took a 50-year journey toward a greater understanding of America’s triumphs–and a confrontation with its failures. In May 2012, President Obama posthumously awarded Gordon Hirabayashi the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
