PJ Paparelli, Former PT Artistic Director Director Dies at 40

Perseverance Theatre lost one of our own when former Artistic Director PJ Paparelli passed away earlier this week. His time in Alaska was filled with great productions of musicals like Tommy and Hair, work of his own such as Columbinus, a play about the Columbine school shooting, and supporting other writers, such asThe People’s Temple, a play by the Tectonic Theatre Project about Jim Jones, Jonestown, and Jones’ followers. Perseverance will be remembering Paparelli before each remaining performance of our current play, Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England, this weekend. Our hearts go out to PJ’s family, our colleagues at American Theatre Company, in Chicago, where PJ was Artistic Director, and to our dear friend David Charles Goyette, who was with PJ at the time. PJ’s passing is a huge loss to the American theatre profession.
