Perseverance Theatre is seeking a full-time Development Director to join a statewide team of committed professionals in the theatre. This position is available now and open until filled. Please apply early in order to be considered. A great candidate will be able to maintain a stable office schedule with flexibility on some nights and weekends. Some travel to Anchorage would be useful for the job. The salary range begins at $37,000 for this position. This position is eligible for annual leave, sick leave, and health benefits. The Development Director would be responsible for the following areas:

  • Strengthen and grow the individual giving campaign:
    • Implement the theatre’s recently developed major gifts campaign and development plan.
    • Research donor prospects for the theatre.
    • Develop opportunities for the board/artists to meaningfully engage with major donors.
    • Create and market year-round opportunities for donating/giving to the theatre, including mailings, e-blasts, Pick.Click.Give, Combined Federal Campaign, and others
    • Develop planned giving/estate giving.
    • Manage the donor database (CHOICE) in order to thank donors through letters, play bill and website recognition, special events, and through other means.
  • Oversee and ensure the success of the business campaign:
    • Support the development of annual business campaign tools for sponsorship and advertising.
    • Research business prospects.
    • Maintain consistent correspondence with local and national businesses.
    • Appropriately thank and recognize gifts as outlined in sponsorship materials.
  • Grant writing, reporting and research
    • Work with AD to manage relationships with foundation program officers and boards.
    • Research and solicit new funding sources.
    • Maintain timely and accurate reports to foundations.
  • Take part in organizational leadership
    • Produce and maintain fundraising calendar
    • Work with board to coordinate fundraising plans.
    • Serve as an additional point of contact for Perseverance Theatre on financial matters.
    • Participate in the staff budget committee and Board finance committee.
    • Support the statewide Board of Directors to engage as needed.
    • Support cash control procedures.
    • Supervise the development effort and team, including the Development Associate.
    • Maintain State and CBJ business and other licenses/registrations
  • Institutional Outreach/Advocacy
    • Maintain relationships with local Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, arts organizations, and government officials.
    • Regularly invite and build relationships with government officials.
